Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Does any one know of an Oil Presure Seding Unit that replaces the old "dumby" one from ford, that does not require any other mods, and gives an actual reading of the pressure level? I have had no luck tracking one down. Thanks

You will still have to jumper the 20 ohm resistor on the back of the cluster. The sending unit for an '86 or earlier should work. I got mine from the dealer (expensive), but NAPA and others should carry it. The real sender is a much larger metal "can" where the idiot sender is very small and made of plastic.

you need to remove the instrument cluster and solder a wire across the resistor.

The resistor is located directly behind the oil pressure guage. Can't miss it. Attach a wire so that each end is on either side of the resistor.

if you have a V8 the sending unit should be on the driverside on the front side of the block close to the timming cover behind the power steering pump, kinda tigfht in there you may have to lean over there to see it. DW

Thank you for the help. Next problem is tranny. It wants to slip out of gear or not engage at all when I first get her started after she has sat for a couple of hours. It almost seems as if fluid doesn't circulate as it should. I have already changed the fluid and the filter. I hoed that would fix it but...... Oh well. It worked for about 3 days. It is a A4LD I believe.

Broncos didn't come with an A4LD, I don't think. What kind of truck is this? An Explorer?

My garage pet is a 1989 Bronco II XLT. 2.9 L 4x4. The only listing in the owners manual I could find, said it has a A4LD. If that is not correct how do I find out what it is? It is a 3-speed with overdrive. The 4-wheel drive is activated by push-buttons. I am at a complete loss trying to keep it going and my husband is tired of me spending my time in the garage. He teases me and says it ain't natural.LOL

Ok, this is the big Bronco forum. You probably want to start in the BII forum.

Good luck, and welcome to FTE!
