Yup. The carbon/soot was nearly to the top of the opening. I scraped it all out.
The pitting and cavitation is weird. Must be because the EGR has been disabled for 100,000 miles and created turbulence at the joint. Or, I had a leak. Clearly, H&S doesn't cycle the EGR as some believe.
Actually, now that I think about it, I did have black spatter on my hood. Right above the EGR.
Evidently people who don't do a complete delete might have issues down the road, well a leak anyways, along with pressure and soot it wore it almost clean through.
