As you can tell by the user name I am a newbie to Diesel. Coming from my V10 F 250 on 38" Nitto's I am still happier with my new truck. I am installing a block heater and have a couple of newbie type questions. I read that you need to drain main coolant before attempting this. Q1 Is it a big deal if you don't? I also read somewhere(read way to much to remember where) that after completion you should bleed the coolant system. Q2 I this necessary???
1. Pull right front wheel.
2. Remove fender liner.
3. Cover starter with plastic.
4. Practice your moves.
5. Remove plug and quickly swap in heater.
6. Run wiring.
7. Replace liner and wheel.
8. Done.
If you did it fast and right, there will be little coolant loss and no need to fuss with draining, etc.
