Thanks. I'll add this to a list of failing electronics to check in the future. Just went through some stacked failures with caps in the ecu coupled with psom problems on top of Vss code that wasn't the problem.

If you are talking about the green disk that looks cracked, that is not a capacitor but a MOV( metal oxide varisistor). They act like a over load fuse and will short out if voltage is spiked beyond it's rating.

Unless you got hit with lighting/high voltage surge for which MOV's are mostly used for, it likely failed due to age.
