pleASE HELP.check engine light kills trk.

1993 5.0 f-150 automatic
engine idleing really rough then check engine light comes on and idle smooths out.
when the check engine light is not on the trk goes into gear and shifts smoothly as it should but once the check engine light comes on it SLAMS into gear and shifts really hard.
please help as i drive this truck to and from work every day.
the check engine light comes on about every 3-4 minutes and the goes outat which time the engine tries to stall out completely

1st thing is you need to see what codes are displayed on the vehicle computer......if you don't have a scanner, AAMCO, autozone, etc will pull the codes for free, then you will at least have an initial concept of what the issue(s) could be.

I agree with beechkid. It is an ECC-IV instead of OBD2 connector as well. (Obd2 has made it so easy)
