first thing that happens is the transfer case locks in and engages the front driveshaft. Put the truck in 4 x 4 and then shut the motor off. Jack one front tire an inch off the ground and see if you can turn the front drive shaft. If so, the transfer case did not engage. If the driveshaft is locked in, then rotate the front tire. If it does not rotate, the axle is not locked in. ............ motor has to be running and vacuum present to get the front axle OUT of 4 x 4.
yes, IWE is bad.... problem is they should LOCK when the motor is off and no vacuum.. You need to start the truck and put it in 2 x 4 to get it to disengage !! Your in the right area !
