Hot no start....

So I recently bought a '04 F-250 early build with the 6.0 powerstroke. Truck drove fine for the first 1000 miles. Drove from Fort Hood back home for leave. Got home and truck sat for two days, started it up and it ran for 15 minutes, then shut off on me. Temp gauge read normal, but after it shut off, I turned the key off and back on and temp gauge was maxed out. And truck has to cool down before it will start again. Replaced the IPR Sensor to no luck. Not sure if I have an ICP sensor issue or what it could be. Any help?

Try starting with ICP unplugged.
Any gauges to read live data... ICP while cranking, IPR while cranking to start.

Fires up after sitting? Oil cooled down and makes pressure easier... may be a HPOP going bad and in these older 6.0, usually the issue.

Tried that one

I did try unplugging the IPR and the ICP neither gave any luck but the was oil in the connector for my ICP sensor, don't have a way to read any pressures or anything like that. I can do that if it's what's needed. What do I need and where could I get it at pretty soon. Also had a Crankshaft and Camshaft Position sensor code come up recently. Could that cause any of this?

Oil in the ICP connector means the connector is bad and so is the sensor... you need to replace both. You can't unplug both at the same time if that's what you did?

You need cam and crank sync... and FICM sync as well or it won't start.

You need a gauge like scan gauge 2 or Torque Pro to read the live data or you will be buying parts randomly to try. Early 04' models are know for HPOP failure, which you may or may not have,,, they run $700 and will require a tear down of the engine top to get to the pump. If it were me.... I'd be buying a gauge (one of the above) to prove it.

What Randy said, without something to monitor date in real time you are shooting blanks and might end up throwing money at a problem when it does not exist.
Your condition sounds almost IDENTICAL to what I had after purchase.
Long story short bought the truck four hours north of me, towed my car back home on a car dolly running perfect and SGII reading all the critical things that looked awesome.......HPOP went out two weeks later just out of the blue.....no warning at all. I also had a bad ICP sensor that was full of oil and soaked the pigtail as well....it had been replaced once before, very common failure for that sensor, and unfortunately the HPOP as well.
If can turn a wrench and read a torque sequence chart, you can do the job along with the help of this awesome tool called FTE right here.

I agree with the ICP sensor and pigtail needing to be replaced but being an 04' if the ICP sensor is in the passenger side valve cover it also could be leaking standpipes or dummy plugs.

It's an early build. ICP is still at back of the engine. Not sure if the early builds had stand pipes or dummy plugs

We carry that sensor at FORD OEM 6.0L V8 ICP (INJECTOR CONTROL PRESSURE) SENSOR - 2003 / EARLY 2004 3C3Z-9F838-EA.

Hope this helps!

Long cranks can sometimes give you a false cam/crank sync error code.

The temp maxxing out suggest a short in the wiring. FIrst place to look is the oily ICP pigtail.

If you had the ICP and IPR unplugged at the same time it would not start. Wouldn't start at all with IPR unplugged actually. You will probably be wanting to buy that ICP sensor from ED though
