I am going to send out a plea to everyone who drives. Please USE YOUR BLINKERS!!!! I'm so sick of waiting at intersections just to have the guy turn beforehand, or whatever. So please, avoid accidents, and use your blinkers, espescially when changing lanes on a busy highway.

 

Here's the "other side of the coin" sort-of-speak. After you turn turn off your blinker. I see more folks driving around with their blinker on lately. It drives me nuts cause you don't know what they are going to do.

 

I drive on the highways in Dallas everyday, as soon as your turn on a turn indicator to signal a lane change, the cars in the lane you want to be in will close the gap so you cannot get in.
I turn on my signal at the same time I make my lane change and this helps.

 

Come to Memphis. Turn signal are NEVER used. On an average day, the only diligent turn signal using driver, is me. I use them more here than I ever did before I moved here, just to annoy the folk that don't use them. A trick here is that if you want to change lane, and use the indicator, the guy in the lane behind you will step on it to stop you being able to get in. SO, people don't use the flasher, so they can get in lane. I use my flasher, and step on it, and get over before they can catch up. It annoys the heck out of 'em. They then speed up, and go past me, then pull in front and slow right down; But, I know they do that, so when they start to pass, I get ready... ... ...

They pass, and slam on thebrakes, pulling in front of me, so I move over a lane, and miss them. That actually annoys them even more. They then try to catch up again, and the cop I noticed pulling on pulls them over, and they get even more annoyed.

I have found that the worst offenders drive dark colored older model Pontiacs, and Buicks. They usually are female, and most often extrememly overweight.

So, in your efforts to make people use the turn signals, and turn them off again aftewards,, Do come to Memphis, and teach the munchkins here how to drive.

Even worse is the people that put on their turn signal when they get to where they are going to turn. The IDEA of a turn signal is NOT to say "I'm turning" but rather to alert people behind you that you are ABOUT to make a turn so they can react accordingly. Using a turn signal once you get to your turn is just as bad as not using one in my opinion.

 

I think I mentioned this before on another thread, but in Chicago if you want to get in the right lane, you must turn on your LEFT blinker. Everyone scrurries over to the left lane and then you can get in the right lane.

Is there any wonder road rage is popping up all over the place. What a bunch of selfish jerks! We need the cops to get on top of this and nail those perverts that try to keep you from changing lanes.

I am glad I moved to a small town where there is very little traffic and I don't have to deal with these morons any more.

Getting back to Mathew's plea, we do have people that don't turn on the signals and that ticks me off too, along with the idiots that pull into the gas station and stop at the first pump instead of pulling all the way forward.

And dats all I got to say about dat.

 

I also hate when people drive with their blinkers on all the time...
You don't know when they are goign to turn and if you hit them they say well I had my blinker on lol..

But then it hurts when someone doesn't use their blinker.

 

I was surprised when I first drove in California. I was used to, here's my blinker - I will be turning at the first opportunity. In Cal, its heres my blinker - I'm turning NOW.

I also love the driver that turns the signal on 3/4s of the way through their lane change. Oh, THAT'S why you're drifting in front of me! You wonder why they even bother. I once heard that no Town Car or Grand Marquis should be equipped with turn signals or rear-view mirrors, because none of their owners know how to use them anyways. I just sold the Grand Marquis, and bought a Town Car. Aah, the beginning of the end for me.............

 

You know, back when I had my other truck, nobody would ever cut me off, or do anything else to annoy me. Maybe it it was the fact that I had a 2 shotguns in a rear-window rack, each pointing to a different side of the truck..
Or could it have been the sticker in the window just above them, "Yep, they're loaded"

Too bad the nice officer asked me to take it down, people were so polite to me back then.

Now, I don't drive, I aim, close my eyes and pray. The only time I feel safe is in my little hometown. They drive just as bad, there's just fewer of them.

 

I actually said to a guy in a gas station here, driving a brand new Volvo, It's a shame about these new cars, none of them come with turn signals. He just mumbled something and left. Then you have the, I'm going to take my lane AND yours kinda people, or the, Let's ride in the trucks blind spot people, and who can forget the, Let's get out on the main road before the big truck doing 50mph suicidal freeks. So many bad drivers, so little time.

 

That's a petpieve of mine too.

But, also when the turn signal is on, and they have no intention of turning. That really gets me.

 

dainbramage: Was it the sticker or the whole setup they made you take down? Up here even the guns would get me some time in jail. I think driving around with a gun rack on my truck might help with some of these wonderful tourist drivers though. And I dont even mean tourists from far away places, people in Toronto and surroudning areas visitin Niagara Falls (where I live) is all the same....


Now on my truck my left turn signal doesn't work when I have my lights on (I have a problem with a ground I haven't gotten worked out yet) and so what do I do? Well if I want in the left lane I get in and stay in that way I can still get out without a problem, just not back in. Also I wont change left with anyone behind me or in the left lane, if I can see them then I'm not doing it. My girlfriend showed up in her Lincoln Continental the other day (her moms, her blazer is in the shop ) and the turn signal wasn't working. Well after watching her drive for a bit I offered to drive, you cant just cut people off argh.


What about when your driving your truck along and little cars like to try and cut you off and hit the breaks?!?!?! I dont understand how warped some peoples common sense is...big truck...little car...you hit brakes...truck cant stop...SQUISH! Is it that hard to understand? Don't see me cutting off Peterbilt's!!

Now mind you when I was towing my girlfriends blazer on the trailer, I was getting in in front of Trucks, because they were the only ones letting me get over in Toronto traffic (on the highway) everyone else just zoomed up..."dont want to get behind that he is going slow!!!!"

I want to move to a town with dirt roads and no stop signs...where I know everyones name!!!! I'm sick of living between two big cities. Wait till we get our second casino its going to be even bigger then the first, and as much as I like the casino sometimes this is going to SUCK!!!
