I currently have a Scangauge which I found great for monitoring the engine vitals but have always wanted an EGT probe as I would like to run a higher SCT tunes program.
Well I finally managed to purchase a used Edge Evolution programmer with a EGT probe as well all for 180 dollars. I then ordered a OBD II splitter cable from Amazon. I finally found time to install this and the Edge programmer works great on its own but as soon as I use the splitter and have the Scangauge on as well the Edge starts displaying all sorts of alerts( egt too high, tranny temp too high as well as others.
Does anyone have any suggestions as I would really like to have both of these monitoring at the same time.
ive run into sorta the same problem using torq. the edge goes blank and then the torq app works if not it kind of freezes. im guessing its because the edge connect directly to the computer. hope some one chimes in. ive googled it and found nothing thought i was the only one. lol
Looking at some of the reviews on Amazon. You guys are not the only one with this problem. It seems to affect some people across the spectrum of vehicles with no apparent solution. My first instinct would be to swap the splitter from each of the devices. If the scanguage freaks out then it may be a bad cable.
Thanks guys. It never occurred to me that the splitter cord could be bad. Of course I zip tied everything up nicely out of the way so I will need to cut a few of these. I will try swapping the splitter sides and see if the problem follows to the Scangauge.
I really hope it would be that simple as I would really like to be able to monitor eight parameters.
Well I finally had a chance to swap the cables and the same issues occured. I would really like to have both units functional as I find the scangauge will monitor the FICM voltage, ICP and other various things where as the Edge will not.
I thought I have seen photos of guys running two Edges so I assumed that you could run a Scangauge and an Edge together.
I also assumed this when I saw that OBDII splitter cables were available too.
Thanks dsquared.
I looked at the link and that is the same Y splitter that I bought. I am not giving up just yet. I am going to contact Edge and see what they suggest as I am sure that I am not the only one with this problem. It would be nice to have both to monitor FICM voltage and ICP which my Evolution does not.
Well any updates yet? Anxiously waiting to hear as I have the same issue. I am thinking of ditching the Edge and getting different programmer. I have actually had my truck shut off from hooking up a ScanGauge.
HP junkie-Funny you should ask this as I was going to update this tonight anyway(maybe all Ex owners are telepathic to each other???).
One of the guys I work with has a Bluetooth OBD II adapter by OBDLink LX so we tried hooking this up at lunch. My Edge Evolution started doing the same crazy things again and then settled down. I thought good we finally have this licked till I looked over to the Edge and my ECT is reading -40 degrees! So we are back to square one. I was going to by another version( one members here have had good luck with for around $25.00 )actually last night along with LED bulb upgrades for my Ex but now I am afraid to. I have seen 200 dollar units listed but I am afraid I will have the same results and I don't want to spend that( especially when I convert it to Canadian which is almost 275.00 Ouch!)
I don't want to lose my Edge as it came with the EGT probe which is the whole reason I bought it so I could run a hotter SCT program.
I really want a OBD II hookup to monitor all the small but important things like ICP, FICM volts etc.
I guess my next step is to call Edge and talk to a tech. I will report back once I have some answers.
If anyone has suggestions please let me know because I am sure I am not the only with this problem.
Have you changed the SG2 update rate? I think default is medium, I changed mine to fast. Maybe with 2 devices you need to set BOTH to slow to minimize collisions?
Well I got the Edge rep on the phone at lunch and he says that has no updates or know of nothing that can work with two OBD II connectors.
I am not giving up just yet as I see a lot of OBD II splitters online for sale so someone should be doing what we are trying.
I don't mind spending 200.00 or so i I know it is going to work as I would love to have my Edge with the EGT sensor and a Torque Pro app with a lot of engine monitors.
