Radiator question

I have a 65 f100 with a 351w and aod. The radiator is leaking I've got one found from my buddy but his is off a 66 auto. I was wondering what the difference is in the mounting on the core support between the 65 and 66. Some of my parts catalogs show them to be different. Figured it was the way they mount up somehow

Yes, the '65 and '66 rad supports are different. You might see that the '65 has "stand-offs" for the radiator that the '66 does not have.

Can a guy just make some brackets or tap some holes or what is needed? I haven't got a side by side comparison in them to see the difference

I did something like that years ago with my '61 f-100 with a 292. I took the radiator out of an old charger my brother had. The hoses were a close fit and his engine was bigger that mine. It worked fine. I drove the truck from tucson to northern cal and never had any problems.
