Honestly, I don't think they have it, Ilya. I don't know what the correct number is. I'm not sure that what the vendor on eBay is selling, is from what he thinks it is from, but it works and fits correctly. The only way to get the right ones is to match them up, which is easy to do from a picture. Our trucks use one that is pretty obviously different.
yes it's the new spring from the ebay kit. I don't know about homemade..i thought the old spring was just sprung, but anything is possible with these old trucks. is there a lot of tension on these springs when they are working right?
i just got done putzing around with it, seem like it would take a lot of force to get my spring to sit right. so i'm thinking this new spring is just not going to work.
The "leg" that would bear on the latch on the red springs doesn't stick out far enough to hit the latch surface, even if by some miracle you could wind it on there.
I just ordered some door lock latch springs and the remote latch springs from another Ebay vendor. I contacted him about the 48-52 springs being wrong. He found the 38-47 springs and they look like the correct ones Ross found.
I'll let you know when I get them. The vendor is whiterivertreasure. His store is Joe's Auto Door Lock Springs. Kind of pricey but he has a lot of springs for vintage vehicles.
