Fuel filter cap

Well I didn't listen and used the 1/2 in drive instead of the socket now I have to get a new one. I know there's a lot about using the oem cap for the oil but can I use the dorman one from advance auto for the fuel filter?

If it is direct fit you should be good. The taller one for oil used a different filter and they did not work.

Ouch! That is highway robbery. I got the OEM from Tousley for $35, sure odd that aftermarket is that high.

I wanted to get a spare( just in case) and my dealer wanted $65. Needless to say I didn't get a spare.i figured if I was gonna spend that much I would just get one of those fancy anodized aluminum ones.

I had the exact same issue when I bought my Ex. I went cheap and brutal and used a chisel or screwdriver at an angle to cut through in several spots until it broke the seal then spun it off. It worked for me and as long as there is a filter in there it should catch anything that gets knocked down inside. If nothing else disconnect the fuel lines and clean it out afterwards. Good luck!!

I wouldn't stress about it too much, just use the 0w 40 last and check the levels as you go. You may not even end up using the entire jug of it. Once you get the seal broken on the EDGE of the fuel filter cap in a few spots it should spin right off. Keep us posted on how it goes!!

Looks like a #460 Channel lock May be able to grab the outside lip.

^^^ Exactly what I was thinking. Gives you an excuse for a very useful tool

I bought one years ago (mid 1970s) to get the oil filters off VW Rabbits after going into the VW dealership and seeing that is what their mechanics used.

I have used that over-sized channel locks for a bazillion things, including stuck filters, plumbing, pressing parts together and everything in between, when you need 'em, there's nothing like 'em...
