I have a 04 Heritage V6 4.2L with 194K miles. I get slight hesitations only in Drive while at a stop. It shakes also but not as if it wants to shutdown. Still drivable. I was told it's either the COIL PACK or SPARK PLUGS. Debating which route to go first. Go SPARK PLUGS, what is the correct gap and the torque of the plugs? Go COIL PACK, do I just follow the sequence of the wire,(replace wire, if necessary), to each plug? Any advice on what else I should be aware of?
You need to look at the code descriptions first to know what your trying to clear.
Code 116 is about the engine coolant sensor circuit.
The 316 is misfire detected on first start up.
Code 302 is cylinder 2 misfire.
The 316 will clear when the 302 is cleared.
The 116 is a separate issue.
Service for the code 302 first.
Check out the plug lead first for cylinder 2.
It's terminal area may have an issue or the coil may be faulty.
Then go after the 116 code later.
Good luck.
