Transmission question

I towed our camper about 40 miles from home to a local campground for Halloween weekend. About halfway there I lost power steering and brakes. Thankfully there was nothing but slow backroads to finish my trip. I change the power steering pump and all is well now. With that. As I was test driving it I noticed as I got over 60 that the transmission would start slipping. I paid more attention and noticed slight slippage anytime I got in the gas a little bit. Is this a transmission problem or something different. What are my chances for getting the camper back home? Any answers are appreciated.
It's a 2000 7.3 2wd I guess u need to update my sig

Thanks

Definitely sounds transmission or converter related. Do you have any way to monitor your TFT?

Whereabouts is your camper now? Good chance one of us may be able to come lend a hand getting it home.

I don't have a way to monitor my TFT yet. I'm in Covington La right now. I may just use my roadside assistance to get it home if needed. I have seen threads where people gave changed the valve body's? What is this accomplish?

How do you know the transmission is slipping? What are you reading to determine that?

I am reading the Tach. It goes up to about 2500 and the truck doesn't go anywhere then the truck starts responding. Not sure if I make a lot of sense there.
Now keep in mind that from a stop it does like normal the problems is just at highway speeds that I have noticed it so far.

Damn, you're on the clear other side of LA from Houston, otherwise I'd be happy to come yank your home away from home, uh,... back home.

Don't worry about the valvebody. It's basically an upgrade that firms shifts and decreases shift time, resulting in less slippage and thus less heat, in return prolonging transmission life and making it a nicer overall experience. I highly doubt that's the source of your problems.

Mark is the resident trans guru for us, so anything I say is immediately overruled by his knowledge I wonder if the lock-up is messed up, causing the converter to lock and unlock resulting in sporadic high RPM. About what MPH are you moving when you see it spike to 2500rpm? While I have 35" tires, 2500rpm is 83-85mph for me.

I agree the torque converter is unlocking. A bad brake light switch or bulb can cause that, moving your right foot on or off the pedal can cause that, and so can a fault in several of the sensors.

Getting the codes read is always the first place to start. Check that all the brake lights work when the brake pedal is pushed, including the one on the cab.

Well guys you have just met the biggest goofball on this forum. After about 5 hours in the rain picking up all of the Halloween decor and returning the site to before we got there status I hooked the X to the camper. never bothering to check my fluids or anything as I planned on doing that at the gas station out of the rain. Bout a mile up the road there was a small hill to get in the station I thought I was gonna have to get the wife and kids out to push me the X and the camper up the hill. But the beast made it. I got under the roof told my wife to call Good Sam and get us a two tow trucks coming. I filled up anyway and popped the hood to check fluids and there it was. The freaking pipe going into a blue connection rubber thingy
heading towards the turbo was off. I just changed the power steering pump and guess I forgot to tighten the clamp. We canceled the tow truck and gave it a try pulled just like it should. Now I just have to figure out why I am down to 8 mpgs
Thank everyone for the answers and the help. Maybe my wife will stop hating this truck
