Problem starting

OK bought a 96 with a 300 a few weeks ago, and having a hard time starting all the time. It seems to start fine when its cold. As soon as it runs for a minute or is at all warm it doesn't want to start. So far I have changed the fuel filter, spark coil, had the starter gone through. And checked and cleaned every major hot wire and ground. It seems to have helped the starter turns faster and its a bit more consistent now. Still not right though, when I try to start it and it doesn't I can smell fuel, if I jump the cylanoid and pin the throttle open it starts fine. Cap and roter doesn't look bad, wires are kinda old and has new plugs.

Somebody today suggested it could be the coolant temp sensor right under the hood. Is this possible? I'm running out of ideas. Has decent spark. Seems to run smooth.

Did I cover everything? Any other questions? Has anybody had a similar issue, what did it end up being?

pULL THE VACUUM LINE OFF THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR (OOPS)
and see if it spits fuel.
Almost has to be running or recently run to spit fuel.
If so, it needs a regulator.
do the fuel pump(s) run for a second and then shut off? with the key just in the 'on' position?

Is it the same with both tanks if you do have 2 gas tanks?

2 tanks, only the rear one works.. Haven't got that far yet. Pump sounds like its working like it should.

New update, pulled the vaccum line didn't seem to make a difference except on original start. Plugged the line because I had read on another post it helped. Starts now warm, but very slow. Likes to spit and sputter before igniting.

Like I said before runs smooth once she gets going. Could it he the pressure regulator? I think it sat for a while. The fuel filter was near plugged when I changed it. Put dry gas in it and haven't been able to trust it enough, or start it consistently enough to run a full tank through it yet.

Same problem still. Completely lost, is it possible it could be the coolant temp sensor? Does it really tell the pump how much fuel to pump like he said?
