Brohmhilda - 77 F-150 Build

I noticed other folks starting build threads, and it seemed like a good idea for me, and would provide me a central place to update and ask relevant questions. So, here goes. I've also got an Album set up on here with all sorts of photos, check it out at Brohmhilda.

Year: 1977
Model: F-150 1/2 ton
Engine: 4.9L 6 Cylinder
Transmission: 4-speed on floor w/Granny Gear
Other Stuff: 4wd w/4" Lift on 35's

I bought her back in 2013 and I've slowly been tinkering with rebuilding her. She came with the paintjob, but there appears to be pleny of bondo and rust beneath it. I expect to eventually replace it. For now, I've rebuilt the front wheels from the frame out, rebuilt the rear end from the transmission to the wheels, and recently rebuilt the engine and put it back in.

Here are some photos of the engine back in the bay!

I ended up replacing the starter with the new engine, and I'm now in need of a new carburetor. But not before I sort out some issues with the steering column and the instrument cluster. I've really enjoyed reading up on all that is going on here, and I've profited no small amount. Thanks for being a place a guy like me can hang out.

Interesting blacked out grill shell, rims and dent and race trac chrome. So you had to outside rivet it back on huh? Nice color scheme none the less.

Started working on the instrument cluster today. Whooeee, what a wreck!

Three bulbs soldered onto the PCB, and not with a soft hand, they melted through and bonded to the plastic beneath the PCB as well. I put the old PCB on the new back and, well, the cluster still don't work like it ought to.

So I ordered a new PCB, some new boots for the bulbs, and some nice LED replacements. Hopefully, by this time next week, I'll have a working cluster again. I was having issues with the right rear tail light, so I managed to get that fixed. I noticed that I don't even have bulbs back that for the lights that come on when you put it in reverse, should I? I also noticed that their is a 4 pole plug that feeds all of those lights, and I wonder if there is someplace I can just purchase a harness, plug it in, rip out all that old nasty rat nest wiring, and automagically have rewired it properly?

I reckon I'll order one of these Mr. Tail Light wiring harnesses with the optional tow wires ... has anyone else used them?

I might grab some of their new door seals while I'm at it. Thoughts or opinions?

Does your rear light wiring need replacing, or are you just looking to add trailer wiring? If the latter, check out item 49-4191 here: Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

On door seals, I have no idea who "Mr. Tail Light"'s supplier is, but Dennis Carpenter has the best reputation for material quality on weatherstripping around here. I bought theirs and am happy with it.

I'm replacing all the wiring and looking to add trailer wiring!

I still haven't ordered anything from Dennis Carpenter, but given that google maps says he is only a 36min drive (w/out traffic) from the house/office. I reckon I need to drive out there one day!
