This pic was posted over on the 48-56 "Oddballs" thread. I don't know anything about it, but I like it a lot

Nice! Let's each build half of one and meet in Spokane to weld them together.

An engineering marvel. With all that skill, why those rear fenders?

This project has probably had more than one designer along the way.

If that is a California license plate on the front, and it looks like it is, I think I know who built that truck. Toby Brown of Huntington Beach, CA. The bed is from a '48-50 IIRC, that's why it has those fenders. I spoke to him many years ago about his trucks, but lost contact with him. He cut the back of cab of both trucks and then grafted them together. I have a strong suspicion this might have been his truck.
He built a really beautiful red '47 maybe about 20 years ago

That makes sense. He used six doors altogether. Maybe it is still down there in Calif somewhere. The body looks to be in really good condition.

I came to the same conclusion.... six doors to get those awesome rear doors with such nice window openings. That's why I suggested to Tinman that we each do half. I was gonna ask him to do the back half. The front only requires an angle grinder and half a case of cutoff wheels.....

I have been trying to figure out those wheels/tires/hubcaps. Stock 1/2 ton with 7.50 x 16 tires? Maybe it's on a big truck frame like a cornbinder or something with IT'S running gear as opposed to a stretched out 1/2 ton.

To me they look like aluminum slot mags with a hubcap adapted to them.....I dunno

It would take more than 2 cabs grafted together to get that nice smooth roof. Maybe pieces from 3 cabs would do it, or maybe a piece custom rolled on an english wheel.

Or in my case, two 5 gallon plastic pails of bondo from costco, and a 4' scrap of 1/4" plywood to drag across the two roofs like a concrete screed. Next we brush paint this new roof with old, thick red rustoleum primer and sprinkle liberally with the steel dust from behind my 14" cutoff wheel and leave out in the rain for the winter. Axracer would have a cow.

You are in a jovial mood today! That's a good one!

This guy built a bridge; GB would build a dam. Yes, if Costco sold body putty it would come in a five gallon pail for do-it-yourselfers. Ha Ha
