Well my 351 is on the back burner. The company cut my hours back to 40 a week so for now I have to live with the 5.0 that's in the truck. Since heads, cam, and the top end kit are all needed to finish the 5.8.
Anyway, the 5.0 has a coolant leak between the timing cover and the block. So I need to replace that before winter gets here. And since I'm going to be that far, I should probably replace the timing set because I don't know how long the cut back is going to last.
Now I have searched here and on FSB and here on FTE I only found one mention of the Cloyes kit c3057k and it was because of a bolt hitting the retaining plate. And Oreillys lists two sets for a 5.0/5.8 one is the c3057k and the other is c3057x. I even went to Cloyes website with no luck finding a difference. So other than price any recommended set?
As mentioned in your PM to me, the "X" set has a steel billet cam gear as opposed to the "K" set's iron gear. I ran a steel geared set on a build a few years ago and the steel gear ate into the cam retainer plate, which was iron. The answer you were seeking ? I found on Summit Racing's site, looking up both sets and comparing the specs.
Just frustrating trying to get things in a row to get this swap done and one thing after another sets me back. I probably just over looked it on summit. I do appreciate the help.
