Just added a new camper to my fleet (Or I should say new to me) Lance 11'6" slide in. I want to be able to town my motorcycle, and perhaps an ATV in a trailer behind me.
I have looked at the TorkLift hitches and am impressed. However, I am feeling sorta cheap and just want to know if anyone has any experience with the since tow bar extensions as opposed to the stacked double bar.
Not sure of the trailer yet, as I don't own one that can take the bike, so that is also up for discussion.
The camper weight is 4600lbs, it is in the bed of a 2004 F350 DRW v10 (The one in the photo)
Not sure what you're asking about here. Towing a light flatbed for atvs or even a jeep is perfectly doable with a slide in. If the camper drops over the end of the truck you just have to figure out what hitch system will work.
Here is one I made using 2 ½ and 2 in. I would have made the whole thing out of 2 ½ but did not have a piece laying around long enough. I ran the 2 in all the way thru the 2 ½ in. Remember its being leveraged so it has to be strong. If I had the steel laying around I would redo it and go with full length 2 into 2 ½. I have a 11.5 foot (1150 Arctic Fox) and pull a trailer often.
The thing you have to remember when using an extension is that the tongue weight of the trailer is multiplied many times depending on the exact length. So you can't put much tongue weight on it, and that means it probably won't handle well.

Thats the same size camper I have. (Except it's an 11.5 Lance. ) What do you town behind it? I was thinking of a dual axle enclosed to protect the bike and to take away the tongue weight. wasnt sure about that long of a single extension. but if I double it up 2.5 with a 2" inser the full length, it might be OK.
I have a 6', 8' and 20' trailer I pull behind. I have had as much as 8000 lbs + trailer wt behind me on some cross country trips and never an issue at all.
The extension I built stops just below the bumper on the camper so its a easy hook up and at the same time does not stick out to be in the way or overly extend the length of the hitch bar.

Not sure about your weight but my guess is its
I will do some measuring and checking before I do much. Also may buy the trailer first to help me determine what the actual weight is going to be.
If I didn't want to part with the money for the Superhitch & Supertruss by Torklift then You could consider going to the metal salvage yard & buy inexpensive metal & build similar one at home if Your handy that way.
