Moved my gauges

The PO had 4 gauges mounted below the dash. I decided to see if I could move them to the dash. I disassembled the gauges and mounted them in the stock locations. I also rewired it and updated the lights to LED's. I like it alot better than having the gauges under the dash.

Looks great! I would like to try the same thing. Do you know who the gauge manufacture and model is. I would like to order the same ones, and do the exact same.

The gauges that I used were old Stewart Warner gauges like this but mine had the voltage gauge instead of the amps gauge.

I disassembled the gauge by removing the nuts from the back and the gauge slid out of the cup. I took the glass off and mounted the gauge in the original cluster gauge cups. I had to drill holes in the cups to fit the gauges. I double nutted the gauge so that they could be positioned at the correct distance from the glass.

The hardest one was the oil pressure gauge. I had to cut the cup off with a cut off wheel… very carefully not to cut into the gauge.

Excellent job!

looks a lot better than having gauges hanging down under the dash, nicely done

Very nicely done. It must have taken a steady hand, and a lot of patients. Two qualities I no longer possess

Just my opinion, but to me that looks better, then one of those fancy new, expense gauge sets from Dakota Digital, Classic Instruments, etc. Those are cool, but then again, I like stock looks.

Thanks!
I forgot to mention the fuel gauge was about 1/2 inch longer than the other gauges so the cup was not deep enough. I used longer screws and a tube to extend the cup.
