Hey guys,
Let me start by saying.... I dont know crap about stereos. My first question is how hard is it to install a new receiver and speakers in the 92-96 F series/Bronco? Also, I was just looking through crutchfield, and they have some decent deals on subwoofers. I like to have my rock music real thick. I hate music without that low end punch. Do subwoofers need to have an amp to work properly? Also, has anyone ever installed a sub in a bronco? Are there any panels they will fit in? I dont really want to put an enclosure in my cargo area. I use it alot. Thanks for any responses.
It is not hard to install a head unit your self as long as you have the tools and adapters. If you order from crutchfield they will have the directions to install anything you buy. Only part you may have to buy from a part store is the head unit key for the newer f series trucks.
I still own my bronco but have moved into a superduty. I had kenwood excelion h/u, kenwood 4" in the doors and kenwood 6x9s in the rear pannels, had to have custom pannels made to hold them. In the rear I had a pair of JL 10s in a wedge box with a kenwood 400 watt amp, lets just say it rocked. The box did not take up much room because it fit tightly against the rear seat. If your looking to keep your room look into a bazooka tube setup or their new NOS bottles. They add a little flash to the system and from what I hear they sound good.
Most subs require an amp, but you can get compleate set ups that are powered like the bazooka tubes, But honestly if you want the sound the way you want it go with a custom box designed for small enclosure subs, that way you keep your space and if your bronc is like mine the little spot on the passenger side all the way back is a good spot to mount an amp, it up out of the way and recessed so nothing will smash it. If you have any more questions send me an email, ill help any one starting out in the audio world.
Thanks for the reply DAFBFD58. Do you have any pictures of your setup? You said you had to have custom panels made. Also, how much room are you really losing with that sub box?
Sorry i do not, I parted out most of the equipment. The box was about a foot and a half to two feet deep on the bottom with the top being shorter because of the wedge shape. I reallt did nto loose much, 250 worth a groceries from wal-mart fits in there fine.
HEy guys sorry to go off topic, but i also dont know screw all about Car Audio... and i listen to like punk rock music, i want a really really clear sound, the thing is i have everything i need, i just dont know where i should put what, like in general i have 2 JBL subwoofers, 2 JBL 6x9's 3 ways, im getting an amp.. what do u suggest i get and where shouldi put it? im also getting tweeters, and a bass box. do the tweeters go in the door? please help, i stink.

well the sub go in the box in your trunk or behind a seat. the 6x9s can go about any where you want to but them as long as there is enough space for them. the tweeters can go up on the top of your window pillar and have them face slightly down. what type of truck are you putting this in. Any head unit you like will work, suggest you get one with rca inputs for running conections to the amp are better, the sound better and make the install simple, any other questions feel free to ask
im putting it in a 95 big bronco, think i can fit 6x9's in the door?
and besides the stuff im getting which is
Pyle Plus CD/Mp3 player
2 JBL DECLADE 6 6x9 3 way
2 JBL GT1241 12" Woofer
2 TW46 Heavy Duty Titanium Super Tweeters
American Legacy Series 2 Car Amplifier

hey man i am sure you think your getting a deal on all that stuff but if you want crisp clear music i suggest bumping up a notch on the names, look at my first post, the most expensive thing i bouht at the time was the head unit(440) the sub box with subs was like 250, the amp was 210 and the 6x9s by the rear seat were 60 the front 4 inch plates were alread installed when i had bought the truck. I would but the 6x9 in the rear and get a smaller plate in from. If you looking for good stuff at decent prices and want al the help you can get, go get a crutchfield and get your stuff that way.
could you give me a list of the basics that i will need? for a 95 ford big bronco? like i know what to get, i just want a basic system that sounds really good with good bass. help? and this may sound stupid.... but if a player says it can play CD-rw's can it play CD-R's as well?
That is correct if a head unit plays dr/rw it will play cd/r. I would stay away from the wal-mart and k-mart stuff, yea its cheep, remember you get what you pay for. If your really looking to get a decent system put in for your first instal, i would go with either crutchfield because they give you instructions on how everything is installed or go to your local sterio shop and ask them to help. There are too many varibles for me to disbuss with you right here, you send me a email or like i said abuse your local sterio shop, just make sure thats all they do, some shops that do a little of everything tend to lack certain qualities in my view. I hope this helps and like i said send me an email if you would like to get a little more indepth on this, there i would be able to help you out a tad bit more being able to add references and all that.
cool man! thanks for the advice... listen i have lots to learn about car audio, and i think im gonna buy from crutchfield... im gonna need help so if you can email me at joelafreniere(No Email Addresses In Posts!), that would be cool man! thanks alot!
