Mike, I noticed while looking for replacement parts everything seems to 4" now. It was hard to even find a 3 1/2" pipe. I might go that way starting at the up pipe. Does Magnaflow make a quiet free flow muffler?
Back from 10 days of logging roads plus snow and mud. I still have the metallic bang when hitting bumps so it wasn't the damper making the noise even though it was shot. Will replace the shocks next, prolly after Christmas. The steering does feel tighter on the rough roads but really didn't notice any difference going down the highway. My tailpipe broke loose from the muffler and the muffler shop said I need to replace both. I have a 3 1/2" system with I think a Walker flow through muffler. Anyone know where I might get the best deal on replacement parts?
I thing that you need to look at this tread. Sway bar bushing are probably your problem.

Could also be the body mounts wearing out over the years. Several guys have found this to be the source of "clunks", and I suspect mine are making some noise.
The Magnaflow I am running is OK. I wouldn't call it quiet, but it isn't loud or obnoxious either. It very much has that "big block" note to it when accelerating.
I'll probably go with the WBTM again. Its quiet but lets you know what's there. Most of my trucks life has been spent on the road pulling my 5th wheel camp trailer except for hunting season when it gets to see what 4 wheel drive is for. So far it only has 91K on it so it shouldn't be to wore out under there but I do have a lot more stuff to check out now.

Just a hunch here, go try to move your drag link (pitman arm to outer tie rods). That's where one of my clucks was coming from. I have a few more to get after....
