Thank You for reading a little help needed. My 1987 F-250 4x4 with a 351w needs a rebuild. So I bought a replacement engine on craigslist. It is a 1990 as far as I know according to the seller. It had EFI to which I'm changing to carb. THe EFI was not complete and my carb off 87 is. First of all I'm still using the 87 so I don't want to tear apart until new motor is ready. MY NEW ISSUE IS AS I CONTINUE MORE ISSUES ARISE. NOW I WENT TO INSTALL MY NEW PROCOMP EFI DISTRIBUTOR AND IT WILL NOT SEAT ALL THE WAY DOWN. SITS UP ABOUT 3/8" OR SO. TURNS WHEN ENGINE ROTATED. THE ONE I BOUGHT IS FOR 351W # PC6003D-1 IS THERE A DIFFERENT OIL PUMP SHAFT NEEDED. THX DAVID
One last thing to double check before firing up is what cam does your new engine have. If the new engine has a regular camshaft you will be fine, if it has a roller camshaft you need the correct gear on the distributor. If you use a regular cast gear on a steel cam you will eat the gears away.
THX ADOR for the heads up .There was a warning note with the dizzy. Not being a expert by any stretch I thinking stock due to the stock rocker arms and lifters.
