Remember when you were 14 and you had to put the head of a hammer on a new handle? You got it fitted to the new handle and were trying to pound it on with another hammer then your pops smacks you in the back of the head and tells you to hit the botton of the new handle to set it.
Well, I used the same theory to install caps on U-joints. I set the U-joint in shaft, put the cap on as far as it would go, set the U-joint in the cap and "tapped" it in to place from the bottom. It was like pesto magic! I thought it was a fluke, so I did the second one the exact same way. I hope the helps a brother. Oh! I hit the shaft where the caps go with emory cloth to remove all the road grim and rust prior too.
