1997 f350 3.7 blowing fuses like its a dead short .Got a wiring diagam today looks like 3 things are on the wire my truck is auto so I can x out the clutch switch I disconected the speedo meter/odometer but the fuse went out.I need to find the auxilary power cotrol connector and the shift lock actuator any one no where they are on this truck tks
The aux power control connector is the "Power Point" socket in the dash. You actually shouldn't rule out the clutch switch, because the wire harness to it is there in all the trucks; the automatics just have a jumper plug in place of the switch. So that jumper may be shorting something, so it'd be good to disconnect it as part of the diagnostic. Not sure about the shift lock actuator; if I don't forget, I'll check my EVTM tonight.
(And see if you can fix your SHIFT and PERIOD keys; this isn't chat or txt, this forum will be here forever....)
The clutch switch connector is to the right of the brake pedal; that's where the pushrod is on a manual truck. On an automatic, I don't know if that connector / jumper would be just hanging around there, or if it's maybe zip-tied to the brake pedal bracket or something. It's a long skinny connector with four wires in it.
After disconecting all the stuff on the diagram one by one and blowing more fuses I found a wire conector on trans I upluged it and the fuse did not blow funny thing the wireing diagram does not show the plug at all. the truck drives and shifts fine think the plug is for a pto or something so I amjust going to leave it off .thank every one
