Wiring question

On my 55 I have 2 wires coming through the firewall that are hot all the time. The truck is still 6 volt.
One hot wire is blue/yellow, the other is solid green. There is a third wire in the bundle that is hot when the light switch is turned on otherwise no power.

The reason I am having to muddle through this is because of careless use of a wire wheel/grinder which tore most of the wires out just engine side of the firewall.
Help, please - wiring is not my strength.

Here is the wiring diagram.
Your colors confuse me a little, but no telling what has changed over the last 60 years.
I assume there are a lot more wires than just the three through your firewall.
Solenoid to the light switch should be hot all the time.
So should voltage regulator to light switch.
If you have parking lights, that wire will be hot when you turn the switch on.
Also the wires from the beam selector switch to the headlights would be hot when the light switch is on. Well actually one will be hot then if you press the button the other will be hot. (Or is it both?)

Yes, there are a lot more wire some of which I have identified and some with mystery still surrounding them.

I can't find the solenoid on the diagram and is the regulator you are referring to the generator regulator?

Would these two hot wires lead to the solenoid and regulator?

The diagram shows a blue/yellow wire from the switch to the parking lights (which my truck has) but I have located two other wires that electrify when the parking light switch is activated.

Sorry, the solenoid is called the starter relay. and you are correct the generator regulator. I was also looking at another version of this diagram when I was typing.

Most likely, the two hot wires lead to the solenoid and regulator.

It sounds like you have it now. Those two other wires are the headlights.
Wiring does get very confusing, especially when they are all bunched together and seem to disappear going to various locations. Maybe that's why my wiring project is moving at a snail's pace.

Are you rewiring to 12 volt or just re-doing the old stuff?
