Hood hinges
Ok, like a idiot I was just taking my truck out for a short drive down the street. I thought the hood was closed good and latched but, it started to come up. It didn't go all the up to the cab I hit the brakes and it started going back down. I did spring my hinges and I was wondering if I can fix it or if I have to just get me some different hinges?

If the hinges have sprung (stretched), they cannot be repaired. Hinges are the sasme 1961/66 F100/1100.
I was driving on the Hollywood Freeway in 1963, the hood of a 1963 F100 parts delivery truck I was driving flew up, a scary occurrence because I couldn't see anything.
Somehow I was able to make it over to the shoulder. The hinges were stretched, hood would not longer close, so I used my belt to secure the hood in place. I then drove surface streets back to Encino.

Thank you for the reply, yea l just looked at prices for new hinges what a idiot l am!!!!!
I do have a spare set thank god for that.
Wasnt there a threat on how to secure the hood down better a few years ago?

Then pull up on the lip of the hood to make sure it latched.
1983/85: To keep my '65 F100's new 80 amp battery, Cobra LeMans valve covers and air cleaner from being stolen when I worked at a dealer in a less than desirable LA LA Land neighborhood, I bought a bicycle chain and padlock, secured it thru the hood. To unlock the padlock, the hood had to be opened about a foot.

If you need a safety latch, one off a 66 bronco will work.
Check out jeffs bronco graveyard in Michigan, there around 7 bucks.
Also I put another safety catch on, I'm not home to take a picture, but what I did was use a carabiner clip a section of chain and drilled a hole in the up rites. Bolted it all together.
You put the hood down on the safety catch, snap the carabiner on the main latch and push the hood closed.
Double protection.
I got my new hinges from a supply house in Oklahoma, they came from Argentina,and are good quality, he advertises on e bay
