I have Blizzaks on my F-150, Cooper M+S studded on my Excursion...love them both! Also ran Firestone winterforce on my Expedition previous to the current Blizzaks.
You're running them on 17's aren't you? I'm guessing the DM-V1's? I was debating getting a set of those for my 22's but I could buy new 17's and snows for those before the 22's.

I have the DM-V1's on my Expedition and Chrysler, but on the F-150 I'm actually running the E rated W 965 on factory 17's.
I'm just not quite sure if a set of snow tires will be worth it for the truck. I definitely need something before winter whether it be some all-terrains or snows.

I would just honestly go with A/T tires. When I worked at Tires Plus last year as a tire/lube tech they always recommended A/T tires for the winter for trucks and SUVs with 4x4 or AWD. The tires I have now do pretty well in the snow but they cup really badly unless you are on a strict rotating schedule of 3000 miles and do it with cross rotating then 3k later do same side front to back rotate.
Least down here Winter tires I don't feel like they are worth it for 4wd trucks and SUVs, when they are $400+ per tire I think a standard set of A/Ts are a nicer option. Sure you could get a longer lifespan out of tires by swapping snow tires in the winter and swap back to your spring-fall tires but unless you want to spend the dough on good snow tires A/Ts work just fine. Just my opinion.
Has anyone ever tried using something like Line-X of spray on truck bed liner for under coating for winter? Just curious for alternative options for those in the rust belt.

As I've heard, line-x and other bed liners can be very counterproductive because they can trap moisture and salt underneath.

I went with the DM-V1's on 17s last year, my truck came with 20's. This was my first time going to a dedicated snow tire, I always just went with a snow rated AT tire(Duratracs).
I paid $1100 for wheels, tires, tpms, mounting, balancing, and shipping to my door. The 20's were $850ish for the same tire, then I'd have to remove them in the spring. Too much of a hassle.
Yea, I noticed that I can get into a snow wheel and tire combo for a decent price. I do like not having to mount and balance tires every spring and fall for sure. What are your thoughts on the snows compared to the Duratracs?
The Duratrac's are ok on ice and snow(driven many rented trucks with them when up north), better then most A/T's but still don't hold a candle to any of the dedicated snow tires I run like Cooper M+S studded, Firestone winterforce studded, Blizzaks.

The Duratracs are good in the snow. I put them thru hell in all kinds of stuff, ice, deep snow, wet snow, ice, etc..
I plowed and towed in all these conditions too. They performed great, except for the ice.
This was my first year with a dedicated snow tire, and I can say that there's nothing better than the snow tires. They are just awesome, and almost give you too much confidence in the white stuff. I'm in the Midwest, and our winters are spotty. Last winter was pathetic here, I removed the tires in the beginning of April before the temps hit 45*F.
Took some time today to put some por 15 on the frame. I took some pictures before, during cleaning, and after. I will post them soon. I plan on spraying fluid film on Wednesday and will take pics of that too.
Here are some pics before and some after. I think it turned out pretty good. There may be some spots that I need to go back and touch up touch up since I finished in the dark using a headlamp.
Things I would do next time:
Use ramps/ jack stands/ A lift if accessible (I hit my head so many times crawling around)
Use semi gloss instead of gloss, I think it would have matched better.
Hopefully when I spray the fluid film underneath it will make the color underneath a little more cohesive. But at least gloss-black is better than rust-brown
