New Guy
New guy here, first ford, first truck. Love these forums. Its pretty much how i got my pontiac together. Have only had one ride in my truck, but am certain i made the right decision. 77 F150 Custom from canada, 351M, 4spd, 4wd. Mechanically sound, but body work issues popping up. And now the starting problem.
Have read various posts about starting problems, and believe my problem comes down to a melted off fusible link. It comes down from the neg side of the battery, right side of solenoid, and meets up with a red wire. They seem to meet up with a yellow wire and another black wire. I would post a pic to make this easier, but i think i need 5 posts to be able to post a pic. When i got the truck a month ago there was already a temp black wire from the link to the solenoid and the truck wouldn't start without it, so there was already a problem. Need to fix this correctly.
Can anyone tell me where to get a new fusible link for 4 wires to splice in?, a store, a part number etc. Or even a different solution. Maybe i'm just not searching right. Any help appreciated. Have enjoyed reading the last 2 months. Thanks!

Time to start checking wires for rub/chaff marks, mice chew marks, burns, bulges in the insulation, by passed fuses.
In the diagram the fusible link is just down stream of the starter relay.
OEM looking, $ ouch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/331654340914?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82

He comes to a join where a 2nd yellow wire had been soldered to it, but broken off. Unwinding more tape, there is more bare wire about 4 inches from the first one. He unwinds a little more but is happy every thing is now looking factory and correct.
We haven't looked at the wiring diagrams yet, but it seems from this fusible link, the harness to the voltage reg has 2 yellow wires that join before getting to the link. We will hopefully confirm and clean up the mess. unless something else pops out tomorrow.
