What happens if I....

What happens if I replace the manifolds, leave in the plugs for the smog inlets and leave the hose disconnected from the metal portion that feeds air from the pumps to the exhaust?

If you are asking if it would have an affect on driveability, no. If you have emission testing in your state, then yes. I do not know about your state, but in most a visual check is done to see if all equipment is intact. AS far as what the air does for your truck. It is put into the exhaust to assist in burning extra emmisions such as HC's to allow you to pass the test. If your state does not require emmisions, then just remove the smog pump totally, remove the hoses and plug the holes.

In theory here in tx it has to be there but nothing said it had to work so in theory you could take the belt off the air pump and still pass inspection cause it is still there just cause its not spinning by the belt does not figure into the equation cause nothing is said it has to work just state visually there.
