Have a 2010 F250 6.4 4x4 CC. Had the dealer replace the intercooler boots when they developed a high pitched whistle. After a few hundred miles the lower boot blew off. Got it back on and saved the short trip. Took it back to the dealer and they "fixed" it. Blew off again a couple weeks later. Anyone know the torque for the clamps (been using the tighten to just before the bolt breaks then a quarter turn) and a higher quality boot?
Little trick I learned somewhere was to use some hairpsray on the inside of the boot and the mating surface where it clamps to..yes hairspray. Clean the 2 surfaces really well with brake clean or something to ensure both surfaces are oil/grease free.....then spray both surfaces with hairspray...you can choose your own scent of course lol. Re-assemble the boot and then clamp it down. Hairpsray acts like a glue apparently. I've done this everytime I've had to remove a boot and never had one blow off. The lower boot at the intercooler is prone to blowing off due to oil build up from the ccv.
