so i replaced my ps pump to get rid of the loud whine, and get a little better response from the steering. well i did the swap lifted the front turned lock to lock just like everyone says and it is still noisy. do you really have to put a vaccum on the resevoir to get all the air out? the pump said it has a 500 mi break in, but after the 500mi it is still noisy especially if you are tryin to turn... could it just be the old beat fluid that didn't flush out of the gear box making it loud? i was thinking about a complete fluid flush. is this dangerous? any help would be appreciated.
It is quite easy to flush the old fluid out when installing a new (or rebuilt) pump. This should be done with the changout and recommended by the pump remanufacturers.
As for the pump noise, you probably would be lucky to get a rebuilt with absolutely no whine. A new OEM pump should be as quite as what was put in at the factory.
