After probably putting too much thought into this, I have decided on filling my truck with Mobil 1 5W40 TDT. It has all the right markings being a CJ-4, put the only spec online I could find for Mobil 1 is WSSM2C171-D, where as the Ford spec in my manual ends in 171-E. I assume this is a revision over the -D. Does any body know if Mobil1 5W40 TDT meet the newer spec??
Agree with Scott. You're good to go. Another option for next time around is Shell Rotella T6. Just as good and usually a couple bucks cheaper than Mobil.
You are both correct. I see Rotella mentioned on here a lot. I guess I am just too old school; was never a fan of shell/penzoil/quaker state. I wanted mobil because of the class 4 synthetic vs rotella as a class 3. In the end. Rotella has all the certs. and draining it every 5000 miles, shouldn't matter anyway. Thanks everybody.

Have been using Quaker State in my gassers for years. Excellent oil.
