CDR routing

I read a bunch of threads on here trying to figure out how I'd like to route my CDR. 7.3 with factory turbo setup with valve cover CDR mounting.

Anyone see any issues from the oil pressure perspective to "T"ing it in just above the block, below the turbo oil feed tube. Is this going to spew oil back up into the CDR tube because of the oil pressure coming off the block? Does this have the potential to starve the turbo of oil? Just curious if anyone has tried this route.

Thanks.

88 7.3 with N/A internals
93 factory turbo
Justin's R&D Stage 1 cam
910-16 valve springs (per Justin)
otherwise fresh stock rebuild that's almost done

not gonna work that way. the CDR is a non pressure system and uses engine vacuum to suck the gasses out. by routing it to a pressurized oil port, it will bypass the oil from the turbo into the cdr melting the turbo.

mine draws off the timing cover and dumps into the intake tube before the turbo.

TJC, what do you have to connect it back into the timing cover? I saw a few pieces people made, but I don't have fabricating capabilities.

i have a banks turbo, and it came with the adapter to bolt to the timing cover over the injector pump access plate.

then the CDR mount off the old intake is welded into the intake tube going to the turbo you can see it next to the master cylinder under the air conditioner pressure line..

Yea I was gonna hit them direct later. I'm at work. I can get away with a quick blip on the web but non emergency phone calls are frowned upon. Thank you for the phone number

Just a word of advice - Pulling crankcase gasses from the front cover works perfectly well, but you will have some extra oil residue in it - Oil gets splashed around as those front gears turn, and little droplets get pulled into the gasses. Not a real problem, except that you have to make sure that your plumbing can handle the oil, and make sure your connections are tight - otherwise, you'll get oil dripping out over time.

I know before I rebuilt my engine, I once installed a "filter"(canister with some loose mesh filter media in it), and ended up pulling a good 12 ounces out of that flow within a few hundred miles.

After rebuilding it, with small ring gaps... I haven't bothered to filter it, it doesn't seem to use much oil, but there's definitely oil inside the hoses and going into my turbo. I'm not worried about it, except as far as keeping it off the top of the engine.

Yeah that makes sense. I have in mind to angle the hoses so it drains back to the gear cover. That could help, especially with a mesh basket inline.

Hmmm. Seems like there'd be just as much oil splashing around in the valve covers area where the turbo engines mount the CDR as there would be from the front cover. I too have a filter (steel wool inside a can, with stainless screen top and bottom to keep bits of steel wool from migrating) mounted directly above the front cover. I like it so far, tho it definitely does not stop all the oil. I use very little oil going by the dipstick tho...

Just wondering if that part came through for you. I am working on installing an 088 kit while my trans is out and think this may be preferable to a hole in the valve cover. Especially since the hose is fubar.

Yes. Summit was able to get it to me. I would say to try Banks first and see if they can help you. I listed the part number in an above post
