Any body know how to keep the freaking dome light from automatically turning itself off?? I understand it's a battery life saving function but I find it ANNOYING and would like to stop it.
As always any and all help/information/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
pawpaw, I know how to make that work, how ever it only works for 5min then the "battery saving mode" kicks in and shuts it off. Even turning it off and on doesn't reset it,you have to either open n close the door or turn the ignition on and off.

Sure, run a wire from the battery to the socket, equipped with a manual switch. Disconnect the factory wiring. This will work, but is likely not the answer you wanted. The only way I can think of is a 'disable battery saver mode' setting in the GEM or SJB, and I don't know if there is such a setting.

tomw, yeah that's not the answer (hot wire it) I'm looking for. If I could find the relay I think I can bypass the 'battery saver mode', but finding it is the tricky part as there appear to bee dozens of relays.
I used to play with the wiring in my 2005 expedition all the time just see what cool things I could make it do.
If I were you, I'd find the hot constant into your dimmer switch and would cut it and just tap a new line from it to the ignition switch constant. I don't think it ever cuts that power. And it's much easier than going through the firewall to the battery.
