I just won a bid on eBay (very reputable dealer) for a 1999 F350 6.8L V10 w/98K miles on it. I ended up paying just over 10K for this new/used truck. It has a utility bed on it which is just what I need being an electrician. The truck appears to be in unbelievable good condition (31 pictures reviewed) - left picture in gallery "My Service Truck". I feel like I got a steal but untill I drive it who really knows for sure. I've read numerouse threads and have a good idea what to look for when I pick it up.
My last service truck was a 73 k20 350 Chevy with over 300k miles on it before it was recently T-boned at 40MPH (man I loved that truck). Although the truck was old it was mechanically sound (lots of TLC). I always thought the body would eventually rust out from under me before my drive train ever failed.
Looking forward to driving my new V-10. Any suggestions on maintainance and overall care. I want this truck to last as long if not longer than my old truck. All input would be appreciated.

All I can say is if you LOVED the old 1 ton Chebbie, you will DIE when you climb in the SD and fire that bad boy up and feel the seamless, turbine-like power of 415 cubic inches of pure Ford horsepower. Man you're gonna think you have died and gone to Heaven buddy-roe. Maintenance is nothing out of the ordinary. Most of us here use Mobil 1 synthetic, with good results. 98K isn't bad for mileage, you've got plenty of life left. Stay tuned for ongoing discussions here and welcome to the future ! The future is Ford, and it's spelled VEE-TEN. Welcome to the forum.
