V10 Ignition Coils from Ebay?

Has anyone tried the V10 ignition coils from Ebay for $150? My truck is missing at idle and under load. I think I have a few bad coils. My truck has 120k miles. I just changed all the spark plugs/boots.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I bought some off Ebay. They are Rally brand. Working great but it has only been about a year. I kept the OEM motorcrafts just in case. HTH

Having the same problem with my 2000 F250, idle is fine, but at 1250-1800 RPM with a moderate load (hill, towing, etc) the engine looses power and the truck seems to vibrate/shake.

I bought some ebay coils for my f150 off ebay. worked fine, but I would have rather gone motocraft.

Also, it turned out the coils wernt the issue.

I have been told by several mechanic types that when a coil fails, its failed, to have it fail at a specific RPM and work at idle or high RPMis very rare, if not impossible.

What was the issue? What problem were you having that made you want to replace the coils?

I would definitely keep a couple of the (good) old Motorcraft COP's in the truck.
Think about it....
Chinese product economics 101: If the seller is selling for $150, he is getting them for well under $100. Pull out the $20 for shipping to him, $20 profit to the wholesaler in China, $20 in profit for the sweatshop managers, at least $10 in bribes to local governments, a few dollars to pay for the sweatshop building, electricity, and production equipment, and that leaves maybe $2 per coil for materials and labor.

What skill level of labor and quality of materials can you get for $2?

You may get lucky and get 10 perfectly functional coils. But how durable will they be?
Wishing them to be good ain't enough to make them good.....

It was missing under load. But would be fine otherwise. Turns out the sparkplugs were bad.

Also, adding to the problem, there was *possibly* a bad fuel injector. They didnt test them, they just replaced them because they were under recall. They suspected a fuel injector because the cats were clogged, which also got replaced due to the recall.

This sounds like a cat to me. Check your spark plugs (I recommend changing to E3s if you havnt already. Buddy of mine got +2 mpg by switching them in his V10). If you do that and it still happens, its probably a cat.

x2

The Motorcraft ones are $50 x10 vs $10 for 10?

What else could be wrong? Injectors? Fuel Filter?

Like I said, check the injectors.

I'm not sure that what they are describing is typical of a clogged fuel filter. However it could be making a poor situation worse. And they are one of the most over looked filters on vehicles. Good to change it out anyway.

I've used them with no issues and so have many others BUT that price is way too high unless something changed recently. The 10 coils were $90-$100 a short time ago. Search ebay COP's or ebay coils and you will find dozens of threads on them and which sellers to buy from.
