Or this one: "When it comes to the cabin, it is expected that the car will offer something special to amaze people." "There's going to be so much amazement, the consumer will be tired of all the amazing things."

I don't know. I think there was a large PR cost to Ford for having "The world's largest SUV." I'm sure the factors you mention were in the calculus (if they had been selling like hotcakes it wouldn't have mattered) but there is certainly a factor of PR there.

Ford gave up the "mini truck" market when they axed the Ranger with no plans of bringing it back. I don't see them bringing back the Excursion either. But Iv been wrong before... I never thought the Bronco would make a return but they "seem" to be moving forward with it

The factors I mentioned were likely the majority of the calculus...they're running a business not a PR firm. What you mentioned might have been thought of, but like you said, if they were selling, who cares about the stigma?

Now if you had said they weren't selling because of a negative environmental stigma, then I might have agreed a bit more. To say that environmental pressures were the only, or even the majority of the reason why Ford ceased production of the Excursion is a big stretch. There simply wasn't a business case for them anymore. Why produce a vehicle that will sit on a dealer lot for months when you can produce a vehicle that won't do that?...they needed to expand their production capacity so the Excursion was cut.

Thanks for that link. I hope that it looks a bit more like the classic Ranger of the past though.

When my Power stroke is dead. I will either stuff a Cummins in it or another powerstroke pending the price I can find the engine for. The body will have to rust completely away before I give up in the X or fuel will have to reach $10 a gallon. lol

I will be doing a 2013 body conversion in the future but I am not getting into payments again on a "new" truck. lol

My thoughts exactly. At some point I'm going to find a wrecked 6.7 and shoehorn it in. I know the electronics will be a pain but that's my business so I should be able to figure it out somehow. I wish Ford would come out with a standalone package for the 6.7 like they have for the 5.0 gasser (Coyote). As it is I'll just drive it until it dies and then look at the cost of motors at that point.
