Getting ready for a long trip.

Well, I finally made it to retirement! Now I'm going to move out of California (can't wait)and set up shop in the Tulsa area. I've been a heavy mechanic for over 50 years now and am going to set up my machine shop & have fun with it.
I'm going to move myself with a 20' covered car trailer towed by my F350 service truck and a rental box truck that my wife is going to drive.
I'm going to get my truck ready for the trip and I'm having a couple of electrical issues to solve.

First is, I have an exhaust brake that I set up many years ago and now it keeps blowing the 15amp fuse in the fuse box. When I replace the fuse it works for several days and then quits working. I'd like to replace the EBPV solenoid. I know some of a you have done the EBPV delete mod and might have a solenoid laying around. I'd be more than happy to buy it from you.

Secondly, I have two relays behind my radio. One of them is clicking constantly, even when the ignition switch is off. It doesn't draw much current because I only start the truck once every two weeks or so and it has enough power to start the engine. I have pulled individual fuses to isolate the circuit and when I pull the brake switch fuse the relay stops clicking. Anybody have any input on this. Had it happen to them and what was the remedy?

Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Could the clicking be the relay for the brake lights? I recently changed my flasher to handle my LED lamps, and I think I remember there was a relay next to it.

If that is the case, it sounds like something in the brake switch circuit is making contact when it shouldn't (clicking it on and off). I haven't poked around at the brake pedal since I spliced into the brake shift interlock switch on my 2000 350, so I'm not sure what is under there. It could be as simple as the momentary switch for the brake pedal being a little stuck or our of adjustment, or it could be an arcing connection that connects, then disconnects under load (leading to the on/off cycling).

Finally found the problem. I was aware my turn signals would not cancel automatically but I never connected this with that. Then one day I realized my turn signals would work with the ignition switch in the off position. Then I put the two together. I replaced the turn signal switch and that cured the clicking.
Hope this helps somebody else sometime.

As for your exhaust brake problem. Look for a short in the wire. or there is a bad spot in the wire and it moves around and it makes contact with the metal and shorts out.
CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING OUT LOL I would love to leave this state. Good luck in Tulsa.

Thanks bone. Your suggestion has prompted me to redo the whole circuit. It consists of a dropping resistor and a diode to send the appropriate signal (5 volts) to the solenoid.
