So since relocating to Florida, I don't drive my truck too much, I take it to work maybe 1 day a week just to move it, a roughly 75 mile round trip.
At any rate, I had some major work done to the truck last February, tune up, and also timing chain came off rollers causing mass havoc. Truck runs great, but since then 7 months ago and only about 3500 miles I still have the same oil. Oil on dipstick looks brand new. Mechanic who did work on upper end of engine said I must have kept up with the maintenance since he never saw a V8 with zero sludge or even any varnish underneath the valve covers, not sure if he was feeding me a line of crap but I saw the inside of the engine, it looked nice.
Thoughts on going about a year between oil changes? Doesnt burn any oil , truck has about 126k miles on it. 5.4 V8.
My opinion would be based on the type of oil you use and what your prior interval was. I probably would go ahead and change it but I've always done mine at 5K intervals and have had no major internal work done.
My wife drives the Expedition about 5000-6500 miles per year, I change the oil and filter annually. MC oil and filter. No issues at all after years of this.
I change the oil in mine annually but that's usually less than 2500 mi. In your case I would change it on a six-month schedule. It is much more humid there than here and that is one of the reasons for not leaving it in a year.
