Rear Hatch not locking
I have a 2000 X, when I use the keyless lock the rear hatch will not lock, I have also tried using the key and discovered that the key will turn but the hatch will not lock and remains unlocked.
Any thoughts? Actuators? locking rods? or just plain lock mechanism?
Also how do I pull the panels so I can try to look and see the problem?

Rear Hatch not locking
I have the same problem. I finaly tore apart the back hatch today to fix it. You need to pop the two platic fastners in the corners. Then you pop off that bottom peice. It turns out that my actuaters and the key lock itself are both pretty much crapped out. The electric hookup for the lock also become disconected. So pretty much the door will lock now but only when i really crank on the key to click it over. Sorry about dredging up an old thread but i think it'll give some usefull info.

Rear Hatch not locking
I had the same problem with my '01 x. I took the panel off and there was a ton of dust and dirt that was stopping the actuator from moving the linkage freely. I took everything out, tested the actuator whlie unhooked and it worked. I then took the actual mechanism out, cleaned it thouroughly and lubed it with some lite oil. It now works like new. took about 2-3 hours - but worth it.
