84 econoline ignition wire or schematic?

Help, have 84 econoline (351 Windsor), having issue getting 12V start and run to new HEI installed distributor. Not getting it off starter solenoid. I do not know what color is factory ignition wire and not having luck finding schematic. I removed all the factory wiring/obd, stuff and installed alum intake and 4 barrel and this is all I have left to be going down the road ti get dual exhaust installed and start driving this puppy, thanking you in advance.

This problem you have might be a good thing. The HEI system takes a lot of juice. What some people have been doing is running a wire directly from the battery through a fuse, and then through a bosch type relay(30 amp capacity, commonly used for aux lighting). Then from the relay directly to the HEI unit. I would use 12 gauge or larger wire.

But then you will be back in the same boat, you need the old ignition wire to trigger the relay. There should be a red/green wire that went to the old ignition module, and depending on the system you had, it could be a white/blue wire. Run that to trigger the relay, these old factory circuits are not big enough for the HEI for it to perform it's best.
