Check engine light reset
Just replaced the alternator in my 1993 Ford F250. How do I reset my check engine light? It keeps coming on after I drive for roughly 5 to 10 minutes.

It doesn't work like that.
If the light is coming on, it's trying to tell you there's a problem. You have to FIX THE PROBLEM for the light to stay off.

most auto part stores will Scan the computer .. for FREE... and tell you what the computer is complaining about..
and most likely its NOT the alternator... otherwise the Battery light would also be lit up.

He has a 93. If he takes it to a parts store and asks that, they'll look at him like he's from outer space (their readers cannot connect to an OBD 1 system).
All someone needs is a paper clip and the instructions to pull the codes from a 93. Google it.

Bah! Don't need no stinkin' Snap-ON (although I'd like to get one).
A PAPER CLIP is all you need to pull codes.

A high-end scanner makes perfect sense for someone making a living turning a wrench.
For a po' boy like me, a paper clip is in my price range. I'll sacrifice my time and convenience for the difference.
