Have you had the codes pulled yet? If not, go to Auto Zone. They will pull the codes for free. Post them and we can tell you what they are.
I had this happen on my Ranger once. Problem was the alternator was going out, and when I put a load on it or made it pull hard, the CEL would light up, then go off when the load was off it. Don't know if you are having a problem with that or not, but you could test it and the battery for any problems....
