So i have tried 2 after market sending units from advance to no avail. I have jumped the wires in the harness and the gauge spikes. i also tested the sending units with hot water and the resistance drops as it gets hotter.
Do i need to just break down and spend the 60 bucks on an oem sending unit, or does anybody have some suggestions?
Did the new sensor look exactly like the old one? I ask since the 6 speed trucks have 2 coolant sensors, one for the dash that mounts to the water pump, and one for the PCM that mounts below the AC compressor. AT trucks have just the one on the pump that feeds the dash. I do not know the specifics but they are evidently different sensors. Maybe they gave you the wrong one.
Check the circuit integrity. Using a DVOM ensure you have 5vR to the Sensor. Depending on how "healthy" the other sensors are, you may only see 4.4 or higher.
Then check the signal (ground side) for OHM to Ground
