Welcome to Fte Justin, as you can tell most of us are ford purest when it comes to gas motors in our trucks. Fact is, within reason, you can put any motor in any chassis. 455s were torque monsters and when set up properly, will do a good job of moving your truck. Is this the only motor available to you, if so I hope you have the rest of the vehicle as your going to need the mounting points from it, motor, transmission, radiator and lots more related parts. Or, are you doing this just to be different. The builders on this forum will encourage and help to a certain degree just for the sake of seeing it done. Most others are going to curse you for bastordizing a ford with a gm. Go for it.
There is a "highboy" for sale on CL in Oregon that has a big chevy/ TH400 in front of the 203. Unusual swap, but appears to be well done.
I will echo others in saying that anything is possible. Years ago (pre ~1955) when performance upgrades weren't as rampant or effective, I feel like engine swaps were necessary. Cadillac/ Olds swaps were a normal thing, as warmed over flathead Fords, or stovebolts just didn't cut the mustard.
Today you can buy parts that actually work for alot of stuff. Agreed that a 460 swap would be simpler and probably more affordable. I would go so far as to say that an FE build would be cheaper than an Olds build.
There are far better engine swaps than a 455 Oldsmobile, but to each his own! An LS or Coyote swap offers great driveability, great performance, and even still a glimpse of decent fuel economy.
The last few years everyone and their brother are doing "rat rods". Joining about every conglomeration of makes and models you can think of.A lot seem to be very well thought out and well fabricated but a vast amount seem to be thrown together with POOR workmanship with the excuse "it's a rat rod". So,sure, if you can cut, weld, common sense your way through the project , it should work out just fine. Gary
get a 73-8? Chevy truck. Buy the motor mounts for the ones that had the 6.2 diesel. That was an Olds-based block. It makes installing a 455 a bolt-in ordeal.
Imma Dodge boy but own a ferd f150, because of the big 300 6. If I ever wreck this, and find another pickup, it might be a dodge w100... with a ford 300 6
If it makes sense to you, do it! And get pictures so we can uhm help support or laugh...
