With one exception, I met A.J. he's "First today's" nephew. Great guy and he'll be attending this years "Cruisin for a Cure" car show.
Now back to the disappointment, but first I have a question;
How many 67-69 grilles will fit in a PT Cruiser?
I haven't been hitting the wrecking yards like I used to. I wanted to slow down and get away form polishing and the headaches. Well two weeks ago I started hitting the yards again, nothing, absolutely nothing. With that said I started looking at C.L. and Ebay for some grilles.
The prices some people are expecting for sheeit amazes me.
I bought 8 grilles and what I saw when I got them home was "DISSAPOINTING" One grille selling for $500.00 on ebay actually had 70 headlight buckets on it.(they look the same but are not)
There were screws going right through the grilles holding down the bezels.
There were cracks and bends only a professional can fix.
I will make all these grilles better than new because I can.
Can the average Joe fix it? You guys really need to watch what you buy on ebay.
As for "First Today" and A.J. I will be working on the grilles I got from you guys and A.J. will be floored at the results. These grilles have nothing to do with the grilles I speak of.
....sort of like if you have a broken trim clip, don't bother doing it right by putting a new clip on. Just run a sheet metal screw right through the outside of the trim and into the fender.
This wasn't my handy work. It was done by a previous owner.
Yeah kinda like that. Maybe it's just me but I can't deceive a buyer like that.
I once bought a grille from a guy who used 4" drywall screws to hold the bezel on. Not one screw was in the plastic nut.
On another note I did buy a 69 Ranger grille minus one headlight bezel that came with both left and right fenders in near perfect condition from another local seller. Just what I needed.
Hmmm..... Now that I think about it, I know where a bright trim '69 Ranger grille is. I've only gotten a brief glimpse of it, since the (short bed) truck it's on has been sitting for so long, saplings. ...err, small trees are growing right up against the front of the truck and obstructing the view of the grille. I briefly saw it earlier in the summer when it was blazing hot and humid and the ticks and mosquitos were about to carry me off.
Now that the weather is FINALLY cooling off here, I need to go back and take a second, closer look at it.

That's because you're a real person Robert. Not a Evilbay snake charmer. Your work speaks volumes by itself. Glad to hear you're back at it.
