It seems lately there has been more talk about grilles. Many of you buy on ebay. So lets test your vision and get your opinions.
Here is a grille, ebay item # 141058387364
Here is a picture to help you find the correct grille.
After looking at this grille and all the pictures that go with it, tell me what you see.
I do not want experts in on this yet. All the bad pops out at me can you find all the bad?
I don't really see much wrong with it, not a 67 is all I think I can tell for sure. Looks like the center bar might have been painted red at one time, with no Ranger emblem, or black painted headlight doors.
I'm sure you will fill me in.
Ok look at headlight buckets. Look at headlights, what's wrong?
The zoom feature will show you more bad.
Also look at headlight adjustment assemblies, are they correct?

Ok, let's get expert opinions on this grille. Even if your not an expert but know a thing or two. Main thing for this post, is to try to school the unsuspecting buyers of what to look for. Two big RED flags on this listing are: AS IS and NO RETURNS. "Buyer beware" If your going to spend this kind of money for an item, you don't want surprises. The seller should be upfront about everything pertaining to his/her item. Not like this seller.
well it's a 69 grill , pass side bucket is wasted , hardware wrong, headlight adjusters by mickey mouse ..
are the 69 only grills really pulling this kind of $$
Most of the sellers are pretty honest and upfront, with the right description of this item I would say, "it would not sell" however I've seen buyers buy crap like this, for the same price even knowing it's crap.
Here's the kicker, I've had people contact me to trade their POS grille that they bought on ebay plus a couple of dollars for one of my grilles. They tell me that their grille is worth $500.00 plus.
Or I get people contacting me saying they were taken advantage of by a shady seller and can I recondition their grille.
It's hard to educate after the fact. So that's the purpose of this thread.
I looked at the grille, but not the price. The grille itself doesn't look that bad, but pictures can be very forgiving of defects.
What is the asking price?
It says the opening bid was $50, there have been 3 bids and the current bid is $500. If I were a betting man, I would say that the high bidder is another account owned by the seller. It looks a little suspect that the bidding jumped straight from $75 to $500.

It's an auction, goes to the highest bidder. That's not the point, well not really. Here's the point I'm trying to make. Before buying something, don't you think you should know more about it? If the seller is selling you crap, don't you want to know? The more educated you are the better off you are when buying parts for your truck. If money is no object, I'll sell you all the parts you want.
I want you, especially you to look at the pictures in the auction then ask yourself some simple questions. First one being, "How am I going to adjust the headlights? Second question, "How much is it going to cost me to have it look like this?

That's a good possibility however, We need to focus on what is right or wrong with the grille.
