Fuel Injector Difference
I've got the fuel injectors out of my 1990 f150 and was originally going to just test, rebuild, and reinstall. Then i started looking into replacing them with a remanufactured set of 4 hole Bosch injectors. However rock auto (and some other places) make a distinction between the injectors on the 90 and 91 models vs the 92 and above.
Does anyone know if this difference is just the Pintle style nozzle on the older ones vs the 4 hole on the newer? And/ or is there any issue with using injectors for a 92 in a 90?
Thanks - Matt
I couldn't source the EFI computer and used an aftermarket EFI instead on my '78, so I'm free to swap parts ***** nilly and then tune to the combination.
Perhaps the EFI PCM can learn the new injectors, I don't know. But, I do know I want to get those newer 4 hole Boschs for it's better atomization
I'm thinking i might just go for it, there are a few other brands of injectors that have a single part number listed as 87 - 96. So i'm guessing that the newer Bosch's should work just fine. Connectors look the same, size is the same, they're just the newer 4 hole design
I had an early VEMS that required some assembly... Took me a year to build the PCB and 2 years working on the harness and another year for the harness to the fuel tanks. I went a little nuts with this build with extra circuits and stuff.
If I did it again, I would order a pre-assembled unit with harness and relay packs. Or source out a '96 Ford stock system with wiring and get the MAF sensor and OBDII.
