vw -- OOPS!
Good article on the issue, a bit different take than the ******* and bed-wetters in the regular press.
Maybe this VW thing will finally bring the ridiculousness of the EPAs emissions standards to light now that all these liberal pinko VW owners have to deal with it.
But, if they thought that the standard was BS, they should have fought it. They tried to sneak by and gott caught. They do get points for apparentlyvery aggressive correction.
One unexpected
side effect --the NTSB is looking for abigger budget to preventfuture problems. Probably the EPA will be as wellHj
For my part I have concerns about unelected bureaucracies with regulatory authority. There is no real public feedback mechanism, no accountability or any method of redress. These are diesels that get 40 or 50 miles to the gallon. What's the problem again?? You want to fine these people? I don't get it.
One of the ironic problems with better and more precise measurement over the years is the standards keep tightening up and tightening up to the point of absurdity. I think that's what's happening with a lot of the environmental regs. The "dirty work" was done a long time ago, so they need to look busy, somehow. They also get to keep the money that is collected from any fines is my understanding. This is a hell of a conflict of interest in my view.
Then in recent years there is the disturbing trend of various government agencies being weaponized as political arms to effect revenge and reward favors, etc. This kind of thing wouldn't surprise me a bit. Shocked but not surprised.
